October 2007
The fishing under the birds has been great on the north end. The trout are small but there are some nice keeper mixed in. Topwater has taken the bigger fish. The redfish are underneath the trout. Use a 3/4 oz gold spoon to get to the bottom. They want it movining fast. The flounder fishing has picked up. The best bait has been berkely power shrimp in natural color. They are also hitting split tail white jigs tipped with shrimp. Keith Lake has been hot on an out going tide. The redfish are feeding on eels. Anything that looks like an eel, the reds with hammer it. The flounder are starting to stake up on the mouths of cuts.

Aug. 2007
The fishing has been fantastic. The rigs have been paying off. Limits of trout by 10 am are common. The fish have been suspended. The best bait has been Glow cocohaos and Purple/Chart cocohaos with 3/8 jig head. When it is calm they will hit topwater and suspending baits. There have been a few ling at the short rigs. The biggest caught was 50+ lbs. The birds are working in the lake. Lots of ladyfish underneath them, but there are some nice trout and reds mixed in there. 4"Gulp Shrimp in white has taken most of the fish with a few hitting topwater. The next few weeks are shaping up to be great. The offshore fishing is starting to heat up with the ling moving closer in this time of year. TripleTail have been hit or miss this year. The best bite has been around 15 miles out under the weed patches.

July 2007
The fishing has been great despite all of the rain fall that we have had. The fish that were in the lake have been pushed to the jetties and the short rigs. The rigs have been hot with limits before noon. The biggest problem with the rigs has been getting out there to them. Between dodging thunder and lighting the wind wont seem to let up. The best bait has been Purple/Chart swim baits with a 3/8 jig head. The Spanish Mackeral have really been thick at the rigs also. The will hit anything as long as it is moving fast. The redfishing has been good on an outgoing tide in the ship channel. When the wind has been calm enough to throw topwater the reds are really slamming it. The best color has been glow she dogs. The triple tail fishing has been hit and miss with only a few here and there. Offshore the ling are thick. I pulled up to one stand pipe and it had 5 nice keeper ling on it. The best bite has been between 15-25 miles out.

May 2007
The birds have been working in the lake when the wind lays down. The best action has been between Blue Buck Point and Greens Bayou. The bite has been good early thru mid morining and the cranks back up mid afternoon til dark. The water in the lake looks good and the fish are healthy. Most of the fish under the birds and small but there are some really nice fish mixed in with them. The best bait has been Berkley Gulp swim minnow in glow color. The jetties have been hit and miss due to the wind. I had a party that limited out at the jetties and in the surf one day and then the next the Trout were few and far between. We should be getting into our summer pattern here in the next two weeks. The Reds have been the one strong hold at the jetties with four man limits no problem. The best Flounder bite has been on an outgoing tide in the mouths of cuts that drian the marsh. Keith Lake has been good for catching lots of undersized Trout and Reds. If you put in the time you can scratch out some keepers. The best bits has been on an incoming tide with glow/chart cocahoe. The ship channel bite is starting to shape up as well. The fish are starting to feed on the school of shad in the channel. Live bait has been the best bet on an incoming tide. Fishing has been the best along the point in the ship channel.

April 2007
The Trout bite has been hit and miss due to the weather and run off. The best bite has been in the afternoon on the Louisanna shoreline. Glow has been the go to color catching trout to 6 pounds. If you find the mullet and small shad you will find the fish. The birds have been working when the winds lays. The flounder fishing has turned on with limits comining on incoming tides when the water is in decent shape. The best bait has been Glow/Chart. 4" sea shad bass assassins. Just about all the points and cuts are holding nice size flounder. The redfish bite has been strong at the jetties. Lots of rat reds but there are some slot fish mixed in with an occasional oversized red mixed in. The fish are hitting firetiger sand eels.

March 2007
The fishing is as good as it gets on Sabine. The key to finding good solid fish is finding good water. The best water has been on the Louisiana shoreline between Willow Bayou and Blue Buck Point. The best bite has been when the tide first starts going out. The best baits have been 5" bass assassin in glow/chart and woodpecker. The rat red are thick along the bank on the Louisiana shoreline. There are some nice keeper red mixed in with the rat reds. The best bait has been a gold/silver flake 4 "swim minnows. The flounder bite has been steady picking up as the water warms up. The best bite has been on an incoming around the mouths of the bayous on the Louisiana shoreline. We are also catching some nice fish in Keith Lake cut. The best bait has been chart. curly tails tipped with Fish Bites in the crab flavor.

Feb 2007
The fishing has good when the weather has allowed. The best bite has been on the Louisiana shoreline in 3-5 ft of water. We are catching near limits of trout on red shad bass assassin 5" and red shad sea shad 4". The red fishing has been hot win the marsh when the North wind blows the water out of the marsh and the fish sit in the deep channels and ambush bait as it flows out of the marsh. The flounder bite is slow. We have been catching a few drifting the flats and in the deep channels. The flounder fishing should turn on in the upcoming months. Looking for a great month of March as the water and weather warms up.

- Capt. Chris

January 2007
The rains continue but that hasn't stopped the redfish bite. The fish are still holding in the ditches in low tide but move up with the sun warms the water up. The best colors have been redshad when the water is muddy and white with sliver flake when the water clears. The best bite has been on the Louisiana shoreline in 3-5 feet of water. The trout bite has been slow due to the cold weather. There have been some big fish being caught when the sun comes out and heats the water up. The best bite has been in 2-4 feet of water. The best bait have been slow sinking or suspending baits. The flounder bite should start picking up towards the end of next month.
